Bot roles¶
/roles setup (requires Discord's Manage Server permission) manages the bot-related roles on your server — create one, add it to yourself, or remove it, all from one command with a choice parameter.
This is a convenience for standing up the role structure the bot expects — for example, creating the leadership role you'll then register on the config dashboard's Roles screen — without a trip through Server Settings.
Requirements¶
The bot needs its Manage Roles permission (part of the standard invite), and its own role must sit above any role it manages in Server Settings → Roles. If the command reports a permission problem, the role order is almost always the culprit.
Note
Creating a role here does not grant it any bot access by itself. Access comes from registering the role as an approved role in /config dashboard — see Permission tiers.
